My Summer, not as I had imagined it would be

It's been a while since I last posted. I should punish myself like how Dobby does when he speaks badly of the Malfoys. I'm neglecting my blog AGAIN. I'm so inconsistent. Well, anyway, I'm still getting the hang of it. I will, soon.

Do you know that weird feeling? When in school you say; "I wish it was summer vacation already." And then when it's summer vacation you say; "I want the school year to start already!"
Or maybe, the people who feel like this don't think they're summer is productive in any way, like me. I so want to travel, to attend a workshop and meet new people. But so far, this summer's all blah.

So, in a desperate yearning for fun and productivity, I've decided to make this summer productive. Just spending  most days at home can be, you just have to choose the things you spend your time on. Like for me, I told myself that this summer I'll blog more often. Even if you're just in front of the computer screen most of the time it still is worth your time. Another would be learning to play the guitar from people on YouTube, I'm so grateful for the people who make tutorials of my favorite songs! And also I can catch up on reading books! I know how hard it is to squeeze reading with schoolwork, not to mention the harm it can do to your health if you're like me who stays up late reading.

As to things that are in favor of my academics, I thought to myself to use this summer to memorize the Periodic Table of Elements. To be honest, I still haven't started because when I told my Science teacher my plan, he told me to just memorize the summer before Junior year because we'd be taking Chemistry that year. Maybe that's why my gusto to do it lessened. Now that I think of it though, I might just memorize half of it. (There are 118 elements!!) Since memorizing it all next summer might give me a tougher time since I'm thinking of taking Public Speaking Courses next year, thus giving me too many to do in just two months.

This summer I got to spend much time with my family, we go to our relatives' houses, celebrate birthdays and other special occasions. I'm so thankful to God for blessing me with a family with such strong ties. And just yesterday one of my closest cousins celebrated her 18th birthday, it's a bigger celebration because it's like the "Sweet Sixteen" or "Quinceanera" here in the Philippines.

Well, it's 10pm now. I'm so happy that I got to post again, hahaha! I hope you, (yes the one reading this) would subscribe. I kind of think that I get lazy blogging because no one gives feedback and sometimes I feel lonely here, not knowing if anyone is reading. :(
Thanks for reading though, sorry that this post is long. I feel so random now, typing everything that comes into my mind. Talk to you soon!

Life Lessons from a Real Queen

I saw this article about Queen Elizabeth on Yahoo. Personally I've always been interested in the British monarchy, everyone's so well respected and I really like seeing Princes and Princesses in real life. (I know, I know, it's not an easy job. It's not all about tiaras and stunning evening attires.)

I always look up to them, though. Their dedication to serve Britain and their responsibility is highly commendable. When you're born a royal, they say, your life is already planned from the day you were born. But I do believe that the British monarchy treats this more of an asset that a liability, they show great example to everyone, not doing everything traditionally and giving something new to the nation. Like REALLY marrying for love and having Kanye West at your wedding's reception. (Will and Kate FTW!) AND they have a YouTube, Twitter and Flickr account! Also their own website! They're the coolest!

And I remembered that time I had a Korean classmate who was from London. I love her so much for being patient with all of the questions I ask her about London. I kept telling her that the next time she goes to London to pack me inside her luggage! I've always wanted to go there, that's why I'm going to study hard so I can someday go to the places I want to. :) I miss you Da-Eun Oh!

Stereotypically Mean

"She prefers frozen yogurt over ice cream? Ohh fancy pants."
"They always gets failing marks in class, he must be really stupid."
"That girl over there is part of the honor roll, I bet she doesn't have a social life and just studies all the time."
"He listens to old music, how uncool."
"She's too thin, maybe her family can't afford to feed her, or I reckon she's anorexic."

Sounds familiar? I bet all of us, for even just once have experienced being judged this way.

Classifying people because of the way they dress, the way they have fun, the music they listen to, or the grades they get doesn't make you know them any better. In fact, why don't we all just stop it and accept the fact that we're all different. Each one is unique in their own way. Our ideas and preferences are different. For example, some may consider fun as reading a book, and some may say fun is partying late at night. Some may find the beauty in a rainy day and some don't. These differences are made not to give us titles, but to make us branch out to various kinds of people. We're all Earthlings people!! All of us has a story to tell and there are reasons why those are choices an individual makes. We should all respect and let live.

So, what if you prefer FroYo over ice cream? It's not just sweet but also tangy, and you sure got adventurous tastebuds! Isn't that a good thing?! (People just make fun of the most silliest things!)
And that person who always gets failing marks in class? I'm pretty sure that God gave him excellence in something rather than academics. What if you find out that he's awesome in playing the piano? He can read those musical notes not like you!
Girl in the honor roll? You should stop making fun of her and admire her dedication to her career and her passion for learning. She might have just a few friends but they're the best and ones she'll keep.
That guy who listens to old music must be commended for his appreciation for classics. And maybe, just maybe, those songs he's listening to reminds him of his parents who are far away from him.
The girl you say whose family can't feed her, so what if they really can't? Shouldn't you be helping her and give her something to eat rather than make fun of her?

We're all equal in God's eyes and loves us all, so let's show that same love to everyone.

Now, here's Taylor Swift singing Mean and telling us about people who make us feel small. Her song that speaks so much about people who makes us feel inferior and how to handle them. She makes us sing that; "Someday I'll be living in a big old city and all you're ever gonna be is mean." ;)

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you feel empowered to know that you're unique and that there's always a story behind everyone including you. A real friend would understand, and if you haven't found that friend, always remember that God will. :) Stay beautiful.

What I'm Doing this Saturday

Since I won't be going anywhere this weekend, I'm taking this opportunity to exercise and write more blog posts.
Today I woke up at 12 noon, which is bad. I always have a hard time sleeping every summer, last night I slept at 1am (which is considered an improvement since last time I was awake until 2am). I've done research on it, since I really hate waking up then the first meal I eat is lunch (I miss making toast and pancakes for myself) and it aggravates my acne!

This link will show you the page I read for help with my troubled sleep. They say also to exercise regularly! (Benefits to my overall health and waistline!)

Now I'm going to introduce to you my favorite YouTube Trainer! :) She's Cassey and her channel is BlogilatesTV. In some of her videos she works out with her sister Jackelyn, and I swear they are both so fun to watch!
And here's the link to her blog: http://www.blogilates.com. (Isn't she so pretty and fit?!)

I'll be working out to this video of their's today. :)

And as a bonus, I also saw this slideshow about

I hope you have a good day and stay healthy :) God bless.

12 Feel Good Songs

One Step at a Time by Jordin Sparks
This song tells that everything will happen at the right time when you’re prepared enough to handle it, and you’ve earned it. There’s no need to rush to the fantasy you have in your head. It says that in life, we shouldn’t be waiting for the fairy tale to happen before our eyes, but we ourselves are the ones who are going to make it a dream come true, one step at a time.

Firework by Katy Perry
This Billboard-topping single surely gives a major boost for anyone. The beautiful meaning of it is that, in every one of us, there’s a firework inside waiting to be ignited to burst out, shoot across the sky and stutter the audience.

Born to be somebody by Justin Bieber
This is a single from Justin Bieber’s 3D movie’s soundtrack. It narrates every dreamer’s thoughts; that “there’s a me no one knows is waiting to be set free.”

Long Live by Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift wrote this song for her band and her fans. This song is like giving recognition to the people who made your dreams a reality. That together they have moved mountains. This song is so perfect for the people who remained true to you even with the existence of people who brought you down. This is for the people who’ll always believe in you.

Mean by Taylor Swift
You can feel the optimism there is when you have haters in this song. It tells us to always follow our dreams even if the people who think they’re “above” us keep bringing us down; that all they are going to be is mean. Those people aren’t worth our time; they’d be so occupied by bringing us down that they don’t realize they’re not moving up anymore.

Enchanted by Taylor Swift
This song always brings me back to that moment when you feel so great because of meeting someone. There’s probably at least one person that made us all feel that way in our lifetime. Every time I listen to Enchanted, I always feel the same way the time I met the person; and it tells the words I should’ve said; that feeling that you’re so “wonderstruck”. Get ready to feel kilig all over again.

Someday we’ll know by Jon Foreman and Mandy Moore
This is a classic. It explores the many possibilities that can happen because of love. And gives you hope that someday you’ll know why you’re meant to be, or not.

Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars
If a song was made to make a woman to feel perfect just as she is, this one’s it. Bruno Mars beautifully crafted this to make every woman feel special. This song’s so sweet you’ll fall in love with it.

Domino by Jessie J
A very happy song from Jessie J, it visualizes having fun with friends and someone special. One night so perfect made into a song. It’s super catchy too. I imagine myself driving a convertible, wearing big sunglasses and singing loudly to this song with my awesome fun-loving friends.

Fly by Nicki Minaj ft. Rihanna
I always feel like I’m really flying; that despite everyone who wants to break your flight, you fly, higher and higher. Nicki Minaj perfectly paces her rapping for us to understand every message she’s telling.

Good Life by One Republic
If you feel happy and having a moment in your life when everything’s perfect for you, celebrate it is with this song. You’ll get to visualize it and fall in love with the moment.

What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction
This British boy group really knows how to flatter a girl. One Direction sings about a girl who doesn’t know she’s beautiful and that’s what makes her beautiful. A very happy tune and super cute singing made me love this. It will play in your head, again and again and again.

A Poem about Myself

Billowing Bloom
By Kyla Mae Tan
A flower full of life and energy
Sometimes as wild as a menagerie
And sometimes can be as still as a stick
It just shows that I am a maverick

I can be as dazzling as a maven
And when strong winds blow by; I just hasten
Wonderstruck and one of a kind
My real character a true friend must find

My actions are always caring and swift
Wondering in awe as glitters drift
A flower waiting patiently for the best
Living in company with happiness’ caress

I actually wrote this poem for my English class when we were learning about writing poems. We wrote maybe 10 poems, and this was one of them. I developed a liking for writing poems, I find them very creative, I learned from my teacher that a poem doesn't always have to be all measured and rhyming, and that we can also show shapes using the words! Writing poems gives us the freedom to express.

I'm going to make this a hobby! I want to improve on this! :)

Here's the link of the PowerPoint Presentation we used to learn it. I hope you find poetry a hobby that's worthwhile. :) God bless
